Castles, Villages and Wine

Thursday September 15, 2022

Today was a day to explore the area around Colmar, France. We toured Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle. It’s origin dates back to at least the 1100’s.  Over the years it has deteriorated, leaving it nearly in ruins until major restoration 1900 to 1908. It’s now a dramatic historic museum. Rain challenged our castle visit, but it cleared in the afternoon so that we were able to enjoy a few local villages along with some local Alsace wine.  The day ended back at our hotel with bread, cheese, cold cuts, and wine.
