Colmar

Tuesday September 13, 2022

Today is our  second day in Colmar; there was no post yesterday. Colmar is a small town in France south of Salzburg near the German border. The area has been under rule by both Germany and France. But the people here consider themselves neither French nor German but rather call themselves Alsatian. The old town is beyond charming, blending German and French culture. Yesterday we started exploring on our own. Today we had a spectacular local guide who brought the old town alive with her wealth of information.  Here are some of the photos over the last two days.

We’ve fallen in love with pretzels.
Here a sign tells us this is the place!

The shops are wonderful to explore

  1. Walled cities are interesting - makes you think about the period of time when they were the first line of defense
